birth story…

For anyone who is about to have a baby, actually for anyone at all, I highly recommend the book Spiritual Midwifery. Full of positive birth stories and sound advice - it is a classic.

It Birth story imagewas written by Ina May Gaskin, one of The Farm Midwives. This group was a ‘…spirited group of women who taught themselves how to deliver babies on a 1970s hippie commune, rescued modern midwifery from extinction, and changed the way a generation thought about childbirth.’

This is the trailer to the film they have made about their experiences. It is called Birth Story…

This was the first book our doula lent us during DD’s pregnancy. It changed my life. I later had the honour of hearing her speak at a conference in London during my NCT Breastfeeding Dip training.

      Hi Rosie
I have to say the book ‘Spiritual Midwifery’ was also the most amazing book for me too with the births of both my children. I learnt that birth could be a positive, joyful experience. Yes hard work, but not this pain filled hell that we are led to believe is the norm for birth. At the time this book was my only source of positive information. I went on to have a wonderful birth with my second child and I will always be grateful to the book and Ina May Gaskin.
